FAQ

About MobilityXlab

In a nutshell, what is MobilityXlab?

MobilityXlab is a collaboration hub within mobility. We offer startups a fast-track into a potential strategic partnership with our six industry partners.

Who are your partners? How are they involved in MobilityXlab?

We have six industry partners that are the backbone of MobilityXlab. They are involved in every aspect – from screening applicants to operational decisions. This closeness is what makes us unique.

Why should I not just contact one of your partners myself for collaboration?

Approaching a large corporation and finding the right person to talk to is not always easy. With MobilityXlab, you get connected to experts with the mandate to initiate collaborations. You also get an assigned partner contact that is responsible for the continuous progress of your collaboration – an internal champion!

Why are you based in Gothenburg?

Gothenburg, especially the Lindholmen area, is a brewing pot for innovation and new technology. It is considered to be at the forefront of mobility. Our location on Lindholmen Science Park lets us sit in the middle of the action, with our partners just around the corner.

What about money? Do you buy our technology, or do you invest?

MobilityXlab does not invest in your company. The goal of our program is for you to enter a commercial project with one of our partners. You keep all of your equity and gain a unique opportunity to work with industry leaders.

Application

When and how can I apply?

We have two application periods per year, one during spring and the other one during autumn. You apply through our website.

Who can apply?

Startups that are registered companies in any country are welcome to apply. Technology-wise, you should be able to motivate why your solution is useful for our partners.

How does the application process work and when will I get a reply?

After application, our partners carefully select a number of startups that are welcome to pitch for our partners. To be accepted at least two of our partners need to be interested in collaborating with you. Selected companies are notified and start the program together with a joint onboarding and kick-off. Check the current timeline on our application page.

How detailed should I be in my application?

Fill in our application form with as much information as possible. The more accurate information we receive, the higher the chances are that you are welcomed to collaborate with our partners.

Do I need to be a Swedish citizen?

No, we welcome all nationalities.

Can I reapply in the future if not accepted first?

Yes, definitely! There is no downside to applying more than once.

How can I increase the chances of being chosen for collaboration?

Clearly defining how you would like to collaborate with our partners increases your chances of getting accepted into the program.

The Process

What are the criteria to be accepted at MobilityXlab?

You must have a registered company (in any country) and at least two of our partners need to be interested in collaborating with you.

Does a startup work with all of MobilityXlab’s six partners?

One of the criteria for being accepted is that at least two of our partners want to collaborate with you. These are the ones you primarily work with. On the other hand, in MobilityXlab you are exposed to all of our partners, and new collaborations often arise during the program.

What are the process and timeline?

Our collaboration process runs for six months, with the possibility of an extension for another six months.

What does it cost to participate as a startup?

We do not charge anything or take any equity for you to collaborate with our partners.

Do we need to relocate to Gothenburg?

No. We have a few key dates that we encourage you to be present for, but relocating to our office is not expected. We do however encourage that you spend as much time as possible with us since this will help your collaboration process.

What language will be used during the program?
