A new chapter for MobilityXlab
MobilityXlab is expanding beyond mobility. The collaboration platform hosted by Lindholmen Science Park will open its model to companies in manufacturing, maritime, connectivity, high-tech, energy, and smart cities, extending a framework built in almost a decade in the automotive sector.
A history started by the industry
Global companies founded MobilityXlab in 2017 to bring startups and industry together. We help startups test their technology with some of the world's leading companies, including Volvo Cars, Polestar, Ericsson, Magna, Volvo Group, Geely Technology Europe, and Zenseact.
Startups from more than 50 countries have applied to join the program. Together, we have run 125 validation projects and 25 commercial accelerations. This was done through our pioneer work as a corporate venturing squad, a governance model for innovation in which companies share resources for solving challenges and collaborating with startups.
In those years, we learned a great deal about what makes collaboration work. Our model has already inspired its first spin-off: Defence Xlab, dedicated to defence collaboration. Then, Region Västra Götaland then gave us a new mission: expand the model. And after deep conversations with industry leaders about innovation and collaboration, we arrived at our next next chapter: a cross-industry platform where companies collaborate around shared challenges, and where the best startups in the world want to be.

A true neutral arena, hosted by Lindholmen Science Park
We are hosted by Lindholmen Science Park, a collaborative innovation hub in Gothenburg, Sweden, focusing on transport and mobility, AI, and media. It brings together business, academia, and society to run cutting-edge research and experimental development.
Cross-industry collaboration to solve shared challenges
Partners from different industries join forces in squads to tackle shared challenges. Each squad defines its own focus and works directly with startups, and with each other. We provide the collaboration facilitation and structure, so the teams can focus on innovating instead of coordinating.
Multipartner selection of startups
We run startup selection twice a year, with partners directly involved at every step. A startup needs interest from at least two partners to join the program. This requirement means partners share what they know, and it raises the bar for every collaboration and validation project that follows.
